Bets Dressed - Week 16 - Thursday Night Football Uniform Matchup and Player Props

Week 16 starting off with a bang. Major playoff implications and the AFC West - bolstered by the much improved Broncos wardrobe - making its case to challenge the AFC North for best dressed division in football.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Horses of Different Colors Bowl!

A quick note on methodology.

As always, I’m analyzing every NFL uniform matchup and picking a winner against the spread based on which team dresses best. And just because a team is ranked higher in the Uniform Wardrobe Power Rankings doesn’t mean it will automatically win the uniform matchup. It’s what you wear in the instant matchup that counts.

Looking back at Week 15.

Folks, we have crossed the .500 Rubicon. 9-7 on the week. 112-111-1 on the year.

To close the above loop, I’m not ready to dethrone the AFC North. But I am ready to officially declare the AFC West the most complementary division in football. The color palettes and wardrobe options allow for every matchup to be aesthetically pleasing (so long as teams choose wisely). Speaking of wardrobe options, enter the Broncos. Outfit interchangeability has been a breath of fresh air in Denver. And no matter which direction the Broncos go with their pants in this one, we’re in for an excellent uniform matchup. Can’t shake the feeling they’re going to complete the divisional road game navy pants trilogy. As much as I’m enjoying Denver’s new wardrobe, there’s no version of their look that outshines the Chargers in powder blue.

Could not be more excited for this one. The Broncos and Chargers have exceeded expectations and then some this season. Amazing what can happen when you put proven winners in charge and let them do their thing. While some AFC longshots are lurking, my money is on both of these teams making the dance. Earlier this season, Los Angeles was coming off a two-game losing streak and beat Denver by a touchdown. Here’s to history repeating.

The Pick: Chargers -3

NOTE - the Broncos have yet to reveal their choice of pants.

The slump continues. Another 1-2 week brings us to 21-26-1 on the season. One more bad showing and I may have to channel my inner George Costanza with an opposite week. But not yet.

James Cook - Over 64.5 Rushing Yards

Cook might just be the best skill player nobody talks about. Quietly on pace for his second straight season over 1,300 scrimmage yards and looking to possibly triple his touchdowns (from 6 to 18). He’s cleared the number in five of his last nine (averaging 67 yards per game) and draws a Patriots defense that is giving up 114 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs.

James Conner - Over 80.5 Rushing Yards

Speaking of defenses that give up lots of rushing yards to opposing running backs, no front is more porous than the Panthers - allowing a league worst 142 yards. December has been good to Conner, who is averaging 89 rushing yards in three games this month. ‘Tis the season.

Michael Penix - Over 225.5 Passing Yards

They did it. The Falcons finally did it. And boy did they time it right. Penix gets his first start against the lowly Giants. Let. It. Rip.
