Bets Dressed - Week 3 - Thursday Night Football Uniform Matchup and Player Props
We blinked, and it’s already Week 3. With two strong aesthetic weeks already in the books, the Uniform Gods have teed up another excellent slate this week. In fact, this is the hardest week I can remember to crown best of the week. By my count, half of the games have a bona fide case so long as teams dress correctly (I won’t hold my breath).
This one was a Giants icy white throwback away from making a strong case for best of the week. But apparently only the 49ers believe in my dream concept of Throwback Thursday Night Football. Ladies and gentlemen, the Halfway Throwback Bowl!
A quick note on methodology.
As always, I’m analyzing every NFL uniform matchup and picking a winner against the spread based on who dresses best. And just because a team is ranked higher in the Uniform Wardrobe Power Rankings doesn’t mean it will automatically win the uniform matchup. It’s what you wear in the instant matchup that counts.
Looking back at Week 2.
One step forward. One step back. 6-9-1 in Week 2. But can’t really complain hovering around .500 two weeks in.

Throwback Thursday Night Football was there for the taking. But the Giants* decided we can’t have nice things. Oh, what could’ve been. At least the 49ers will be treating us to one of the best outfits in the league. And they’re the slam dunk choice.
The Giants avoided a humiliating defeat against the Cardinals but lost Saquon Barkley in the process. To make matters worse, star tackle Andrew Thomas is going to be absent for the second week in a row. If Daniel Jones plays like he did in the second half in Arizona, New York can keep this close. But the Niners are certainly not the Cardinals. San Francisco has looked like one of the three best teams in football to start the year, and I think they keep things humming on short rest against a banged-up Giants team.
For the record, I do think this Giants uniform is sharp. But it would be even more so if - and stop if you’ve heard me say this before - they wore gray pants.
The Pick: 49ers -10
Club SDR - Week 3 Player Props.
Our gambit to run it back in Week 2 was almost executed flawlessly. But Bryce Young kept us from going 3-0. And while I believe in Bryce long term, I’m officially putting the NFL QB baby in the corner for the rest of the season. Let’s get some fresh blood in here.
Jordan Addison - Over 48.5 Receiving Yards
Any player in the upcoming Chargers-Vikings track meet is a good bet this week. I expect both teams to air it out with extreme prejudice. And Addison has looked the part in his first two weeks - averaging 67 yards per game. I see no reason why he slows down in this one.
James Conner - Over 16.5 Receiving Yards
Conner and the Cardinals have shown a lot of heart to start the season - collapse against the Giants included. With arguably the worst roster in football, Arizona has covered two weeks in a row. With the Dallas Cowboys coming to town, things are only going to get worse for the Cardinals, but I expect Conner’s bellcow role to continue. He’s had a slow start through the air, but he’s an underrated receiving back. And I think Josh Dobbs will be dumping it off every chance he gets with Micah Parsons and the Cowboys defense wreaking havoc.
Kenny Pickett - Over 222.5 Passing Yards
After the preseason, everyone was buzzing about Pickett and this Steelers offense. But the regular season has been a rough reminder about how hard it is to succeed at quarterback in the NFL. A road trip to Vegas against the lowly Raiders defense could be just what the doctor ordered for Pickett and Co. I like him to exceed his season average of 227 passing yards and comfortably cover.

Keep an eye out for the Week 3 full slate breakdown to drop Sunday morning. Because we live in a world without an NFL uniform scheduling czar, we’re at the mercy of the teams deciding and announcing their uniform combos each week. Where it’s not 100% clear before posting, I’ll make a best guess and update after the fact for posterity.
