Bets Dressed - Week 2 - Thursday Night Football Uniform Matchup and Player Props
Thursday Night Football on Prime Video is back, and it starts with a doozy of a divisional matchup between the Bills and Dolphins. But oh what could’ve been. We were this close to an actual rendition of Throwback Thursday Night Football.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Verge of Greatness Bowl!
A quick note on methodology.
As always, I’m analyzing every NFL uniform matchup and picking a winner against the spread based on which team dresses best. And just because a team is ranked higher in the Uniform Wardrobe Power Rankings doesn’t mean it will automatically win the uniform matchup. It’s what you wear in the instant matchup that counts.
Looking back at Week 1.
9-7 on opening weekend. Never going to complain about being on the right side of .500.

I said it above, and I’ll say it again: we were this close to Throwback Thursday.* But with the Bills seeming to have scrapped their throwbacks after 2021, we get primary white-over-blue instead. Still a sharp matchup overall but can’t give it best of the week in good conscience. The Dolphins understood the assignment and are the easy pick here with their excellent aqua throwbacks.**
Last week went exactly as I expected for the Bills. Josh Allen put the team on his back and dragged Buffalo back from a two-touchdown deficit. The Dolphins struggled early against the Jags but pulled off a double-digit comeback of their own. The thing that jumped out to me most was the competence of the Miami defense. And they’ll need that unit to step up again to win - and cover - in this one.
*I’ve been saying it for years now: NFL Throwback Thursday would be the most popular uniform gimmick in the history of team sports. If I were an Amazon exec, I’d be lobbying the league office day and night. Home and away throwbacks for every team and this becomes a reality. Power of positive thinking.
**Yearly reminder that childhood NFL Fashion Advice thought the Dolphin was jumping through a ring of fire rather than superimposing in front of the sun.
The Pick: Dolphins -2.5
Club SDR - Week 2 Player Props.
Stumbled out of the gate with a 1-2 start. Onward and upward.
Rachaad White - Over 77.5 Scrimmage Yards
It’s not always efficient, but all this man does is rack up scrimmage yards. Over 1,500 last year. Over 100 in Week 1. And while the Lions are a potent stop unit at home, White cleared 90 in last year’s Divisional Round matchup in Detroit. I like history to repeat.
Garrett Wilson - Over 69.5 Receiving Yards
With his switch to No. 5 this offseason, we can welcome Wilson to the Single Digit Revolution. He looked well on his way to clearing the century mark early in Week 1. But then things stagnated. Titans offer a nice bounce-back spot for the Jets, and I like Rodgers and Wilson to announce their presence as a QB-WR duo to be feared.
Aaron Rodgers - Over 224.5 Passing Yards
See above.*
*And didn’t get a chance to welcome Aaron to the Single Digit Revolution last year. Wanted to make it official.
