Bets Dressed - Week 2 - Thursday Night Football Uniform Matchup and Player Props
Week 1 got us off on the right foot aesthetically, and Week 2 is shaping up to be another solid slate. While tonight’s Thursday Night Football clash is nothing to write home about from a uniform perspective, it’s far from a bad matchup. And the game itself features some of the most dynamic, electrifying players in the league.
For my money, Howie Roseman is the best GM in football. But tonight he comes face to face with the biggest miss in his career: the best wide receiver in the NFL and the man he passed over for Jalen Reagor. Ladies and gentlemen, The One That Got Away Bowl!
A quick note on methodology.
As always, I’m analyzing every NFL uniform matchup and picking a winner against the spread based on who dresses best. And just because a team is ranked higher in the Uniform Wardrobe Power Rankings doesn’t mean it will automatically win the uniform matchup. It’s what you wear in the instant matchup that counts.
Looking back at Week 1.
9-7 to start us off. I’ll take it. Let’s keep the over .500 momentum going into Week 2.

Vikings at Eagles on Prime* features two of the best (and most unique) helmet logos in the league. But both uniforms are a touch too modern (especially the Vikings) and would benefit greatly from the removal of black entirely. With that said, the Eagles look has been steadily growing on me, and Philly is the clear choice in this one.
These two playoff teams are coming off lackluster Week 1 performances. The Vikings dropped one at home against the Bucs, and the Eagles looked far from their Super Bowl form (especially on offense) in a five-point road win in New England. Not much time to get right on a short week’s rest, and the Eagles have the benefit of playing this one at home. I expect Jalen Hurts to shake off the Week 1 rust and remind everyone that he was the MVP runner-up last year. While Justin Jefferson will surely get his, the Eagles are just too talented on both sides of the ball. And a touchdown cover feels quite doable.
*If I were an Amazon Prime Video exec, I’d be lobbying the NFL day and night to allow teams to adopt home and away throwback uniforms to be showcased on Thursday Night Football all season long. It would be the most popular gimmick in league history.
The Pick: Eagles -6.5
NOTE - The Vikings have yet to reveal their choice of pants.
Club SDR - Week 2 Player Props.
Hard to start the season off worse than an o-fer. That’s on me. Every year I tell myself the same thing: whatever you’re thinking for Week 1, apply it in Week 2. And every year I forget my own advice. But not this time. Week 1’s lies are about to be Week 2’s truths. Time to right my wrong and double down. We’re running it back with the same Single Digit Revolutionaries in Week 2.
Tee Higgins - Over 59.5 Receiving Yards
It’s virtually impossible to have eight targets and zero catches in a game, but our man Tee Higgins found a way to pull it off. Nothing was going right for Higgins, Joe Burrow, and the rest of the Bengals offenses against the Browns last week. But there’s no rest for the weary with another divisional battle this week. Against the Ravens, Higgins has averaged 65 receiving yards per game in his career. But that average includes a 194-yard performance and a goose egg, so strap in for a boom or bust coin flip. I think we’re due.
Lamar Jackson - Over 219.5 Passing Yards
I feel the most sheepish for my Lamar miss last week. I really expected him to stretch his Raven wings and light up the sky under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken. But no dice. And history is not an indicator that things will get better this week. In his last four games against the Bengals, Lamar averaged 181 passing yards. But we’re committing to the bit and carrying over our Week 1 hunches. And like I said above, we (and Lamar) are due.
Bryce Young - Over 195.5 Passing Yards
The Bryce Young Experience got off to a bit of a rocky start. But even in a rough first outing, you can see the positive flashes of what’s to come. The Panthers faithful haven’t seen their first overall pick make a home debut since Cam Newton. In that game back in 2011, Cam went off for 432 passing yards.* Give Bryce half that, and we’re cooking with gas.
*Plus 53 more on the ground - what a beast.

Coming Attractions.
Back to our normal schedule this week, so keep an eye out for the Week 2 full slate breakdown to drop Sunday morning. Because we live in a world without an NFL uniform scheduling czar, we’re at the mercy of the teams deciding and announcing their uniform combos each week. Where it’s not 100% clear before posting, I’ll make a best guess and update after the fact for posterity.
