Bets Dressed - Week 14 - Thursday Night Football Uniform Matchup and Player Props

Week 14 is here and so is the first of our final four Thursday Night Football games of the year. With a total heading below 30 and black and yellow uniforms under the lights, it’s hard not to think of Kirk Ferentz.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Iowa Bowl!

A quick note on methodology.

As always, I’m analyzing every NFL uniform matchup and picking a winner against the spread based on who dresses best. And just because a team is ranked higher in the Uniform Wardrobe Power Rankings doesn’t mean it will automatically win the uniform matchup. It’s what you wear in the instant matchup that counts.

Looking back at Week 13.

Don’t let anyone tell you 13 is an unlucky number. 9-4 on the week to bring us to 100 hits on the year. 100-88-6 overall. Five regular season weeks left. Let’s keep it up.

It’s a shame Patriots at Steelers isn’t the worst uniform matchup of the week because it would’ve been an honor to bet this under. But it’s easy to get over that missed opportunity with Pittsburgh rocking the best blackout look in the league. New England could make this a sneaky good uniform matchup by debuting silver pants with this white jersey for the first time (but I won’t hold my breath). Steelers all the way.

Nothing like following up the best Thursday Night Football game of the year with Bailey Zappe at Mitch Trubisky.* I - for one - could not be more excited. We’ll all be pining for this game come March, so let’s enjoy it while we’ve got it. The Steelers have yet to lose two in a row this season, and I don’t think that starts now with the potent Steelers defense going against the anemic New England offense.

The Pick: Steelers -5.5

NOTE - The Patriots have yet to reveal their choice of pants.

Thanks to a half yard from Tua, 2-1 on the week. 24-15 on the season. Viva la Single Digit Revolution. Our theme for this week: players that are places.

Drake London - Over 46.5 Receiving Yards

Back in Week 7, London caught six balls for 54 yards in Tampa Bay. With the Bucs giving up the third most receiving yards to opposing wide receivers, I think London will again find his calling.

David Montgomery - Over 61.5 Rushing Yards

We’re only three weeks removed from Montgomery clearing this number against his old team in Week 11. His revenge meter is far from full. I like Peanut Butter* to do it again - this time in Chicago.

*For the uninitiated, the Montgomery-Gibbs running back duo is henceforth known as Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Lamar Jackson - Over 199.5 Passing Yards

The Rams are giving up 236 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks. And Lamar is averaging 258 passing yards per game in his last four at home. Let’s ride those trends.

Coming Attractions.

Keep an eye out for the Week 14 full slate breakdown to drop Sunday morning. Because we live in a world without an NFL uniform scheduling czar, we’re at the mercy of the teams deciding and announcing their uniform combos each week. Where it’s not 100% clear before posting, I’ll make a best guess and update after the fact for posterity.
