Bets Dressed - Week 12 - Thanksgiving Thursday Extravaganza II
Happy Thanksgiving. And Happy Week 12. Hope you brought your aesthetic appetite because we've got a lot to cover in this special edition of the Bets Dressed newsletter: the second annual Thanksgiving Thursday Extravaganza (this year with a bonus Black Friday matchup).
We've got not one, not two, but three excellent games on tap for - in my humble opinion - the best holiday of the year. Ladies and gentlemen, the Turkey Bowls!

A quick note on methodology.
As always, I’m analyzing every NFL uniform matchup and picking a winner against the spread based on who dresses best. And just because a team is ranked higher in the Uniform Wardrobe Power Rankings doesn’t mean it will automatically win the uniform matchup. It’s what you wear in the instant matchup that counts.
Looking back at Week 11.
11 wins in Week 11.* 11-3 on the week. 30-11-1 over the last three weeks. And 83-76-6 on the year. Getting hot at the right time. Let’s keep it rolling.
*If we got 11 wins in Week 11, does that mean we’re in for 12 wins in Week 12?

Packers at Lions just screams Turkey Day.* And nothing makes me happier than seeing the Lions finally giving the people what they want: those simple but oh-so-sharp throwbacks. The Lions wardrobe potential - at its essence - is all about Honolulu blue and silver. And this uniform delivers those elements in their purest form. The Packers are a perfect complement. But the honor here belongs to Detroit.
I don’t know if there’s ever been a team more likable than this Lions bunch. Charismatic and quirky coach. Journeyman quarterback that everyone left for dead. Best running back duo in football. Wide receivers that willingly block. And an offensive line and defense that will chew your kneecaps off. Even GM Brad Holmes is as likable as it gets - and he sure built this team his way. As great as the Lions are, the Packers are not going to take this one lying down. The victory over the Chargers injected some life in this Green Bay bunch. But with the seventh worst run defense in the league, Gibbs and Monty should feast.* I think the Packers hang around, but the mighty Lions grit it out and pull away late.
*On Thanksgiving no less!
The Pick: Lions -7.5

Cards on the table: if forced to rank every throwback in the league, this Cowboys outfit would be closer to the bottom than the top. The white shoulder and nameplate area screams Panelist Era predecessor. But it still safely laps the Commanders - and then some.
More cards on the table: I think Dallas is the best team in the NFC East. They let one get away in Philly.* And when all phases of the game are clicking, no one can boat race a team like the Cowboys. Speaking of boat race, I think this one could get out of hand. The Commanders - and especially Sam Howell - have looked out of sorts since their near upset of the Eagles. They reek of a team awaiting the firing of their head coach.** Moreover, the Commanders are the sixth worst team in defensive expected points, and the Cowboys are the fourth best team in offensive expected points. Hold on to your helmet, Major Tuddy.
*The Eagles - even at 9-1 - still don’t seem like their 2022 selves.
**To that end, the Commanders could’ve desperately used an interim coach game in this spot. My money is on Eric Bieniemy assuming the top spot at some point this year.
The Pick: Cowboys -11
NOTE - The Commanders have yet to reveal their choice of uniform.

Oh what could’ve been. Throwbacks from the Seahawks and we’re talking about a matchup of the year contender. Instead, we’re forced to bring protective eyewear to Thanksgiving. I’m not a fan of the Action Green Seahawks to begin with, but it’s far more palatable with navy pants. The Niners icy white throwbacks are among my favorite outfits in the league.* I especially appreciate the drop shadow numbers and black in the pants stripe - both tying in the black outline around the helmet logo. San Francisco in a no brainer.
The 49ers are back. After a three game skid, the Niners handled two Florida teams with ease - the Jags and Bucs. A win against the Seahawks and San Francisco gets a stranglehold on the NFC West. With Geno Smith banged up (but expected to go), Seattle is as vulnerable as can be.* And I think the 49ers take full advantage.
*Bonus points for a white throwback. Double bonus points for willingness to wear it on the road.
**If you peak ahead at the schedule, there’s a world where this Seahawks team is 6-8 and wondering how the year got away from them. And I’ll be there to tell them it’s when they decided to wear Action Green instead Royal and Green on Thanksgiving.
The Pick: 49ers -7
Bonus Black Friday Uniform Matchup.

Dolphins-Jets in a yin and yang game. While I’m not a fan of the Jets blackout look, there’s no better time to roll out a black uniform than for the first ever Black Friday game. As stated multiple times this year, the Dolphins look best in icy white. And they get the nod here.
Not only is this a yin and yang uniform matchup, this is a clash between yin and yang teams. The Dolphins are appropriately dressed in white sporting a high flying offense and the positive vibes of a Super Bowl contender. The Jets are appropriately dressed in black behind an intimidating defense but a dreary season outlook. The big news item of the week was the benching of Zach Wilson. And while I believe that Wilson earned it, it’s hard to imagine Tim Boyle doing any better. The Jets have a turnstyle offensive line,* underperforming skill players, and an offensive coordinator with a proven track record of incompetence. We know what the Miami offense can do. And the Dolphins defense is coming into form at the right time. I expect them to give Boyle a Black Friday to forget.
*Maybe Amazon has some good deals on right tackles.
The Pick: Dolphins -10
Club SDR - Week 12 Player Props.
Our winning ways finally came to an end. 1-2 on the week; our guy CJ Stroud saved us from the o-fer. 19-14 on the year. Nothing like heading home for Thanksgiving. So time for a Thanksgiving home teams single digit special.

Jameson Williams - Over 21.5 Receiving Yards
It doesn’t always show up in the stat line, but Jamo has been leaving it all on the field recently - especially in the blocking game. I think he gets rewarded for all the hard work with a handful of looks against Green Bay. With such a low number, I like our chances.
Brandin Cooks - Over 36.5 Receiving Yards
Mr. Cooks aka Mr. Reliable. Five teams in the last eight years and all Cooks does is produce. No frills. No nonsense. Just results. He’s averaging 61 yards over his last five games and has cleared the number in three of five (including a game with 36 yards). I like him to do it again.
Jason Myers - Over 5.5 Kicking Points
Fine I’ll say it: I’m thankful for kickers. Always hated; never celebrated. So it’s only appropriate on Thanksgiving to show some love and throw one on the Single Digit Revolution list. Myers missed a game winner last week, but he’s been a points machine this year - averaging a whopping 8.8 per game. The Niners should limit the scoring opportunities for Seattle, but two field goals alone (Myers is averaging 2.3) and we’re dancing.

Coming Attractions.
Keep an eye out for the Week 12 full slate breakdown to drop Sunday morning. Because we live in a world without an NFL uniform scheduling czar, we’re at the mercy of the teams deciding and announcing their uniform combos each week. Where it’s not 100% clear before posting, I’ll make a best guess and update after the fact for posterity.
